Bittersweet Goodbyes.

I’m sure some of you have noticed the blog’s been quite silent as of recent. This would be because my internship with MusicSkins is over with so I will no longer be the moderator and writer of this blog. I just wanted to say my goodbyes formally to you all, so I’ve been collecting my thoughts.

Firstly, Thank You. This blog was a little pipe dream of mine when I started at MusicSkins and they kind of let me run with it. I can’t believe the feedback and the wonderful contributions from the followers of this blog. Quite honestly without you all being so wonderful, this blog wouldn’t have gone anywhere.

So now I’m passing the blog onto a new round of MusicSkins interns who, Im sure will be introducing themselves to you shortly. I hope you’ll enjoy them as much as you put up with me over the last few months.

If you want to keep up with me and my adventures in Neverland and the Music Industry you can follow my personal tumblr/website/visual representation of my mind at www.onlyalostgirl.com and hear up to the minute random word vomit by following my Twitter Imamilkshake. My ask is open so feel free to ask me any questions or leave any comments, I’ve loved hearing from you all.

It’s been a real treat getting to run this blog for all of you.

Stay Safe, Respect Yourself, Always follow your Dreams and Always, Always, tip your Merchies.

Warped Tour Diary: Oceanport

Ahhh Oceanport, with the beach so close and its cool breeze, it was a welcome relief from the heat felt at New Jersey’s other date, Camden. It started out rather dark and gloomy but Vic and I fixed that by having ice cream for breakfast. No, seriously. We ate Vanilla Chocolate swirl ice cream with rainbow sprinkles for breakfast and it was DELICIOUS. This of course was after we hustled around the venue putting up flyers. Not to mention we were savagely squirt gun attacked by one of the stage techs, it of course was all in good fun, if a little cold. I also bought myself a sweet Gym Class Heroes shirt to cover up my tank top which I spilt foundation on that morning in the car.

Today Vic and I posed a challenge to herself. Ten Interviews. I gulped a bit at that…TEN?! We got to press early and signed up for everything we wanted and chatted with Warped press’ own Bethanny (who I LOVE). We even got her some ice cream of her very own. I cant even name all the interviews because we did literally so many but I will go over the most memorable form the day.

First and most terrifying for me was Warped Tour founder himself, Kevin Lyman. Super personal story time everybody! I went to my first Warped Tour when I was 13 years old and  that was the day I knew I wanted to be in music so I went home, went to a local venue and started helping out part time through High School.  I was incredibly nervous but it went well!

Then things go awkward, it turns out I was going to interview the fantastic Disashi from Gym Class Heroes….while wearing a Gym Class Heroes shirt…..He thought it was funny and was a really fun interview.

We also caught up with Nick from D.R.U.G.S. who is one of the nicest guys I have ever had the pleasure of speaking to. He is seriously such a rad dude.

A couple more interviews and we decided to go to the Earn It Yourself Meet Up. Which, I was excited about. It was only my second since work comes first but was my favorite by far. Dee Snider of Twisted Sister ended up joining the conversation and I was just blown away by his honest and sincere input on everything.

It was well after lunch time by this point and Vic and I were, well, hungry. So what did we eat? ICE CREAM! Yep, we bought the same ice cream we had for breakfast for lunch (can you say nutritional?). After Ice Cream and some bus hangs it was time to finish our set of interviews.

We had been wanting to interview Jordan from The Ready Set for awhile now but he was always booked up! Luckily Bethany of Warped Press did us a huge favor and managed to snag him for a quick interview and a lovely chat afterword.

I finished out my day in a tree with I Set My Friends On Fire, trying to stop giggling about pet ants and anteaters. But alas, I couldn’t stop giggling because it was so damn funny.

After Warped, Danny drove Vic and I with a few other people to…CHIPOTLE! mmmmm Crispy Steak Tacos with Guacamole! My kind of way to end the day!

Concert Adventures - We The Kings

Here we go again! The Friday Is Forever Tour made a stop in New York City and MusicSkins Girls Sabby got the chance to go! Let me tell you, it was a GRAND OL’ time. This concert potentially makes it to the top of the Summer Concert list.

First up was Action Item. I’m familiar with the band, but I’m not so familiar with their songs. I only knew their opening song, “Somewhere Out There” and a bit of their last song, “When Everything Falls Back Down”. Five talented guys. One Band. Awesome music. Be sure to check them out!

Next up was Hot Chelle Rae. I have heard of the band previously, but… I never took the time to look up their music. Let me just say, it was a bad decision. Their set took me away. I am a new HCR fan. If you haven’t already, look up their music.

The Downtown Fiction. What can I say, I love this band. I love my TDF boys. This concert marked my tenth time seeing the boys, and they are amazing every time. This time around, they played song off their new album, including “Stoned” and “Alibi”. My favorite of the night from the guys was “Freak.”

Oh snap it’s the Summer Set. Again, another one of my all time favorite bands. Let me tell you, it was a DANCE PARTY throughout their whole entire set. The band opened up with “Young” and ended their set with “When We Were Young.” Funny, right? Anyways, What got the whole crowd moving was their two songs - their classic “Chelsea” and their newest song, “Must Be The Music”. An amazing set, and by far the best performance after seeing them four times previously.

The moment of glory - We The Kings. I’ve met We The Kings as a band once, and then met Travis Clark a second time, and I saw them at Bamboozle. But nothing beats going to go see them in an actual concert venue and watching them play a set longer than five songs. SO this night definitely holds a special place in my heart.

The band came on stage and opened up with “She Takes Me High” and boom. Dance party commenced. I don’t know about you, but there’s an awesome feeling that comes with finally being able to sing back your favorite band’s lyrics while they perform.

We The Kings played a couple of their new songs like “Every Single Dollar” and “Sleep With Me”. Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to sing my heart out to these songs, since I have yet to pick up their new album, Sunshine State of Mind. I know, I know, shame on me for not doing so. Cut some slack for the extremely broke college student… Haha.

Travis did a listener’s choice and via his twitter account prior to the show, he asked his fans what song would they want to see performed. The song that received an amazing response, according to Travis, was “All Again For You”. The band also played “We’ll Be a Dream” and “Friday Is Forever.” The feeling you get from live music is just indescribable. As for the finale, band closed off the night with their hit single “Check Yes Juliet”.

It was a night of infectious rhythms and ultimate grooves. If the tour came to your city, and you were able to attend, I hope you had an AMAZING time!

Until the next show! -S

p.s. - sorry for the cruddy cell phone shots! my camera battery was on the verge of dying that night. poopz Dx

Day 27! And we’re in St. Louis, MO! So…Just how many times can Juliet Simms say Snake in one sentence? And how awkward is it that Cameron, A.k.a. Big Chocolate has found himself some Keep A Breast boobies to fondle? He is also apparently a Power Puff Girl (but you knew that already right?) Just what did Jeffree Star do?! Well you’ll have to find out in our latest video: Warped  Tour Story Time. Our story features commentary from the bands, Automatic Loveletter, Big Chocolate, Shut Up and Deal, The Narrative, Big D and the Kids Table, The Expendables, Family Force Five, MC Lars and Less Than Jake.  Phew!

The we got to pick up some H20 cause those peanuts are salty, mmmmmm mmmmm!

It’s Music Monday! And it’s going to be my last Music Monday with you all. More on that later.. Since it’s my last Music Monday I wanted to play something a little with you all. Now, this little something if my favorite song from my favorite band of all time, The Beatles. That song is Eleanor Rigby. I knew the words to Eleanor Rigby before I could form my own sentences and for the last 20 something years it’s been my unyielding favorite. The Beatles have a lot of songs and I love them, but Eleanor Rigby has always stood out as my favorite. What’s yours?
